Prof. Dr. Markus Buchberger

Since 1998, the RheinAhrCampus of Koblenz University of Applied Sciences in Remagen (RAC) has been training business graduates specialising in sports management. In 2003, I was appointed to the first professorship at a German university dedicated exclusively to sports law. My teaching focuses on sports employment law, contract law in professional sports, sports association law and the legal foundations of sports marketing.

To date, well over 500 sports managers have graduated from the RheinAhrCampus. Many now hold leading positions at clubs, sports marketing agencies and other organisations within professional sports. RAC students contribute interesting perspectives to my lectures, which are consistently based on current cases. At the same time, regular contact with future sports managers sharpens my eye for talent and my understanding of the needs of the professional football labour market.
