Prof. Dr. Markus Buchberger

Experienced. Discreet. Committed.

Over the past three decades, I have gained extensive experience in professional football from almost every perspective: as a lawyer and career advisor, negotiating and concluding contracts for managers and executives, representing managers, executives and other club employees in legal disputes, serving as a board member, supervisory board member, in-house counsel and legal representative of professional clubs, and advising and representing major agencies in both player contracts and transfers. My clients benefit from my extensive experience as well as a tailored advisory approach – comprehensive legal and strategic advice from a single source.

I am a certified lawyer in both sports law and employment law, a consultant in human resources and strategy, as well as a university lecturer in sports management. Over decades, I have developed extensive experience in dealing with the specific challenges involved in drafting contracts and enforcing claims in professional football. As a career advisor, I not only take care of the complete negotiation and drafting of your contracts, but also ensure that you benefit from my established network to support you in advancing your career and assist you in securing new positions.

Those working in professional football want their legal disputes, current professional matters and plans for change to be disclosed only where appropriate. I provide confidential advice and support and, when necessary, help pave the way to new positions – discreetly in the background, without seeking publicity or using name-dropping as a means of attracting clients.

Professional football is a small world. You meet again. My clients can rely on having me at their side, free from conflicts of interest, when it matters most – always objective, with a clear point of view and the ability to apply as much pressure as necessary to assert and protect their interests.
